that's pretty funny. :) oh, well ...

hey, i end up bumping into your blog about once every three months from some google alert or whatever and always enjoy looking at your new photos. the rear-view-mirror series, i think, is my favorite. the stuff from your germany vacations, though, is a close challenger. thanks for posting this stuff.

Rodalben was my childhood home as well (1964-1976) - father was civil service engineer at nearby Pirmasens Army Base (now closed). Was back there in 2006 (after the WM) - hasn't changed much (except downtown seems so much more lonelier). Was a great place to grow up (even if it is/was a Dorf).

if we had known you were coming, we would've baked a cake.

sorry you didn't find our town to your liking. it is, indeed, not as obviously lively as some other places. of course, depending on what you're looking for, that's not necessarily dull.

in any event, i would point out that, had you made a right turn at this very light, there is a perfect-for-a-jeans-date pub (blackwell's) and perfect-for-a-trousers-date italian restaurant (difabio's) in the same block. i'm vegetarian, but i'm told the hamburgers are fantastic at 24-hour ferrell's, which would've been immediately to your right in this picture. and, while it wouldn't've been help to you at 6:30 p.m., a left turn at the south side of the courthouse (the columned building in the left foreground here) would've taken you a half-block to the dinky diner, which is as great as it is dinky.

there are a few suggestions if you ever happen through again. happy traveling.
